This week’s Wedding Throwback Thursday didn’t last very long. In fact these two love birds were only married for a year. Today in wedding history, October 17, 1945, Ava Gardner and Artie Shaw took a leap of faith and said “I do.” Ava was an American actress for MGM studios. Over the years she became one of Hollywood’s leading actresses and one of the most beautiful women of her time. Artie also had his own claim to fame. He was one of jazz’s finest clarinetists. And it wasn’t their celebrity life that caused their marriage to fail. Ava was much younger than Artie. Ultimately that was what ended their marriage. and that just wasn’t good enough for him. Nevertheless, the two did share a year of marriage, on this day many years ago, and it deserves some celebration.
